Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the current Turkish leadership does not fight radicals as much as it cooperates with them.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Turkish government fights extremists in the country less than it cooperates with them, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

Answering a question during his direct line session regarding the situation in Egypt, Putin said that Cairo was fighting extremists in the Sinai peninsula where terrorist attacks happen regularly.

"As far as Turkey is concerned, we see a similar situation. However, in our point of view, the current Turkish leadership does not fight radicals as much as it cooperates with them," the president said.
