MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Syrian opposition group formed at meetings in Moscow and Cairo will present a plan on how it sees the political process in Syria to UN envoy Staffan de Mistura on Thursday, a member of the group, Jihad Makdissi, told Sputnik.
"At today's meeting, we will present to him in detail how we believe the political process should be carried out," Makdissi said.
The crisis in Syria will remain unresolved unless the opposition and government engage in direct negotiations, a member of the Moscow-Cairo formed Syrian opposition group said.
"We are still at the stage of indirect negotiations. I don't know when direct talks will start, this depends on [UN envoy Staffan] de Mistura. In the end, the confrontation in Syria cannot come to an end without direct talks with the regime," Jihad Makdissi said.
