MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The United Nations has conducted three humanitarian airdrops to the besieged Syrian city of Deir ez-Zur, UN Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura said Thursday.
"[UN] World Food Programme has been able to succeed with three airdrops," de Mistura said following the meeting of the Humanitarian Access Task Force of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).
He noted that "the next airdrops are also likely to include not only food items, but medical items, which are very much needed in the area."
