MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — Local media reported that the resignation of Corrales could be linked with the scandal that affected the leadership of country's police that reportedly was tied to a set of murders in 2009-2014. Former top diplomat, who used to be country's security minister before accession to the office of foreign minister, was reportedly aware of the murders.
"President of the Republic [of Honduras], Juan Orlando Hernandez, today accepted the resignation of Secretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Arturo Corrales, so that he can devote his time to the special tasks required by the country and the Honduran society," the statement reads.
