Dutch ministers are moving towards providing greater powers in wiretapping and interception of internet traffic to the security services via new draft law, local media reported Friday, citing draft legislation.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Dutch News portal, draft law was drawn up by defense and home affairs ministers, Jeanine Hennis and Ronald Plasterk, respectively, after three years of negotiations.

The draft law envisions easing of restrictions on tapping mobile and satellite phones as well as mobile internet. It also foresees introduction of a new commission to assess applications for tapping communications. According to the media outlet, citing Plasterk, the commission will be called TIB and will be made up of judges.

At the moment, Dutch security agencies are allowed to tap individual phone connections, but restrictions exist for accessing cable-carried communication.
