MOSCOW (Sputnik) On Thursday, Putin said that Sueddeutsche Zeitung was in a media group owned by the US investment banking giant Goldman Sachs.

"Rather, it is our mistake, those who prepared [the information]. It is perhaps my mistake and those who prepared the reference papers. It was indeed an unchecked information, they did not double-check it and presented it to the president. I mean in relation to the owners of the Sueddeutsche Zeitung. And of course, we apologized and are apologizing to the newspaper," Peskov told reporters.

Earlier in April, Sueddeutsche Zeitung exposed the alleged involvement of the world's wealthy, including a number of former and current leaders, in offshore schemes by publishing materials it claimed came from Mossack Fonseca, a Panama firm selling offshore companies.
