DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — Damascus will not discuss Syrian President Bashar Assad's fate with the opposition delegations in Geneva, Syrian Information Minister Omran Zoubi said Friday.
"This is not a matter of discussion in Geneva, nor anywhere else in the world. This issue is not being discussed with neither the Riyadh opposition delegation nor any others," Zoubi told Russian reporters.
According to the minister, only the Syrian people could decide Assad's fate.
On Thursday, the Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee said the fate of the Syrian president must be raised during the April round of intra-Syrian talks in Geneva.
Just like Zoubi, Moscow maintains that Assad's fate should be decided by the Syrian people.
