WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Attacks by US-led forces on Sunday targeted three sites used by Daesh in Syria and 17 sites in Iraq, US Central Command reported in a press release on Monday.
"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted three strikes using ground-attack and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets. Additionally in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted 17 strikes," the release said.
In Syria, coalition forces hit a tactical unit, a fighting position and two anti-air artillery pieces near the towns of Deir Ez-Zor and Manbij.
In Iraq, the coalition reported strikes near the towns of Al Baghdadi, Hit, Kisik, Qayyarah and Sinjar, as well as near the cities of Mosul, Kirkuk and Fallujah.
Daesh, which claims to have established an Islamic caliphate in Syria and Iraq, has lost more than 40 percent of its territory since the beginning of air operations by the US coalition and Russia, US officials have said.
