MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Last month, thousands of documents identifying 22,000 Daesh supporters in more than 50 countries were leaked to the UK Sky News television channel. A former Free Syrian Army convert to Daesh, who called himself Abu Hamed, allegedly handed over the data on a memory stick.
The channel said it had seen the names of five men who were detained in Copenhagen and four "detained in absentia" and they appear in Daesh files leaked to the broadcaster. One of the men apparently has links to radical groups in the United Kingdom and has been recruiting for Daesh since 2012. The channel added that there were many more Europeans named in the leaked files.
Daesh is a terrorist group that has captured large areas of Syria and Iraq, where it has proclaimed a caliphate. The group is outlawed in Russia, the United States and in several other countries.
