FIFA President 'Impressed' by 2018 World Cup Opening Venue in Moscow
13:18 GMT 19.04.2016 (Updated: 13:20 GMT 17.10.2022) The president of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is impressed with the transformation of Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium, which will serve as the opening and closing venue at the 2018 World Cup, the FIFA Media department said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Gianni Infantino is currently on his first visit to Russia since his election as the FIFA president in February. The Luzhniki Stadium capacity is expected to reach 81,000 people by 2018.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15 in 11 Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Volgograd.
