BERLIN (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the ADS presented a report about the developments in the sphere of discrimination in the German society in the last two years.
"The discrimination is widespread in Germany. Almost a third of the citizens — 31.4 percent — faced discrimination in the last years. Our research shows that the discrimination affects not only the minority, but also the majority of the population," Christine Lueders said, while presenting the report.
She added that the German citizens faced discrimination because of their age, gender, sexual orientation, religion or nationality.
The ADS is responsible for taking measures against discrimination in German society, research of the problem and making reports on the issue to the German authorities. The activities of the agency are regulated by the General Equal Treatment Act, which entered into force in 2006.
