BUENOS AIRES (Sputnik) – Late on Sunday, Brazil's lower house lawmakers voted in favor of impeaching President Rousseff, sending the vote to the upper chamber known as the Federal Senate.
"The process is legitimate but has its flaws because those who support this impeachment are also involved in corrupt processes like the government," Villalonga said.
According to the official, many members of the opposition in the government have distanced themselves from the impeachment process.
The Brazilian president has been facing a wave of public discontent for over a year amid the country’s struggling economy and a major corruption scandal in the state-owned Petrobras petroleum company.
