Phillip's rescuer, Vicki Rabe-Harrison, reached out to Wisconsin Middle School technology teacher Jason Jischke, after seeing a video of his 3D printer online.
She was about to have the duck euthanized when Jischke returned her call to say that his class was working on creating new legs for Phillip.
"I had a little doubt that maybe the angle was going to be wrong, that was my concern number one, and number two that he was not going to actually be able to balance on it" Jischke told Associated Press.
As soon as Philip was fitted with new attachments, he joined his fellow birds and animals at the Autumn Farm Sanctuary, north of Milwaukee.
According to the sanctuary's co-founder Alyssa Herbst, Phillip the lucky duck has quickly gotten used to his new feet.
