MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Hamas in the West Bank claimed on Wednesday that a Palestinian man who died after being injured in the bombing was one of its members and was responsible for the attack, the Haaretz newspaper said on Wednesday.
According to Haaretz, Hamas in Gaza has not officially acknowledged responsibility for the Monday attack that wounded a total of 20 people including the 19-year-old Palestinian suspect.
Palestinians want to create an independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, partially occupied by Israel, and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, and want Israel to withdraw from the Palestinian territories it took after the Six-Day War in 1967.
Israel has long accused Hamas, a Palestinian Islamic political organization and the de facto authority in Gaza, of carrying out bomb and missile attacks in Israel and in the occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
