WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Intelligence sharing between the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is very important in the fight against terrorism, and has been steadily improving, US President Barack Obama said in a press conference on Thursday.
“I think that overall there is a broad consensus in assisting each other in our collective security,” Obama stated. “Our intelligence sharing is vital in fighting against terrorism, and it has consistently improved.”
Earlier in April, White House Coordinator for the Middle East and Gulf Region Rob Malley told reporters that the United States and countries-members of the GCC have reached a number of agreements boosting counterterrorism efforts and defense capabilities.
Daesh is a terrorist group outlawed in the United States, Russia and numerous other countries. The infamous group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq, and declared a caliphate on territories under its control.
