Moscow is ready to cooperate with its international partners to address the global climate change, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Khloponin said Friday.

UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, a climate change agreement reached in Paris on December 12, 2015, became open for signature and Khloponin signed it on behalf of Russia.

"Russia welcomes a signature of the Paris agreement. We are ready for close cooperation with our partners in a common work to address the global impact of the climate change," Khloponin said during an official signing ceremony held at the UN headquarters, which is broadcast at the UN website.

He added that Moscow could cooperate with its foreign partners in the spheres of high technologies and in assistance to the developing countries on the climate change issues.

The Paris Agreement, which was adopted last December to place the Kyodo Protocol, calls on all parties to respect their human rights obligations when taking action to address climate change and specifically to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
