MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Chad’s President Idriss Deby has been re-elected for a fifth term in office, the country’s elections commission has announced.
Deby gathered 61.56 percent of the votes, the commission said on Thursday as cited by Channel News Asia. The turnout at the election was about 76 percent.
Deby, 63, has been the leader of Chad since 1990. He has survived several rebellions against his rule.
