MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The cargo ship of the Houston-based Cheniere Energy company is expected to reach the Portuguese Port of Sines on April 26, the Wall Street Journal said Thursday, citing shipping data from the port.
The shipment is designated for Portugal’s Galp Energia energy corporation, which bought LNG from Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass gas terminal in Louisiana, a person familiar with the circumstances of the purchase told the US outlet.
WSJ speculated that the arrival of US gas in Europe could cut natural gas prices and trigger price wars in the European market, dominated by Russian pipeline gas.
In February, Cheniere Energy announced the departure of the first LNG cargo from its Sabine Pass liquefaction project in Cameron Parish to Brazil.
