KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Sunday he expects the issue of repatriation of Ukrainian national Nadezhda Savchenko, who was sentenced to a long prison term in Russia, to be solved in several weeks.
Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart had a phone conversation, in which they discussed the fate of Savchenko and her potential exchange for Russian nationals Yevgeny Yerofeev and Alexander Aleksandrov detained in Ukraine.
"I have firm hope that my presidential plane will return Savchenko to Ukraine in several weeks," Poroshenko told Ukrainian television channels in an interview.
