MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Two shells exploded on Sunday in the southern Turkish town of Kilis, located near the border with Syria, killing at least one person, local media reported.
According to the Hurriyet newspaper, the shells hit a mosque, located just some 100 meters (30 feet) away from the office of the city’s governor. Ten people were reportedly injured in the attack.
Earlier in the day, local media reported that two rockets fired from the Syrian territory under the control of the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) jihadist group hit two separate residential buildings in Kilis, resulting in injuries for 16 people.
The Daesh is a terrorist group outlawed in the United States, Russia among other states. The infamous group has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq and declared a caliphate on territories under its control.
