WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Sanders, the only candidate for US president that a majority of voters born after 1990 view favorably, has a 53 percent support, the poll indicated.
"It seems that Sanders has successfully appealed to the young Americans burning passion and desire for a political revolution," said an article in the Harvard Political Review explaining the poll results.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton makes a good impression on just 37 percent of millennial voters, followed by 24 percent for Governor John Kasich of the US state of Ohio, 23 percent for Senator Ted Cruz and 17 percent for real-estate mogul Donald Trump, according to the poll.
With more than 40 of 50 United States having already voted in the primaries and caucuses, Clinton maintains an insurmountable lead over Sanders, analysts say.
Sanders’ proposals for free college tuition, universal health care, higher taxes on the wealthy and an increased minimum wage have captured the hearts of many young voters by appealing to their dissatisfaction with the present state of US politics, the article explained.
