Airbus A350 Makes ‘Symbolic’ First Landing in Iran
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Iran will receive from five to eight new planes in 2016 which the country earlier has purchased from the European Airbus company, Head of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) Ali Abedzadeh said Monday.

"As the first phase of the contract inked between Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Airbus Group SE, five to eight A320 and A330 jets purchased from Airbus will join Iran’s civil aviation fleet in the current year," Abedzadeh said as cited by Mehr News Agency.

The CAO head expressed his hope that the relevant entities and institutions would ensure the required financing of the jets. He also added that the deal is a sign of cooperation between the EU and Iran.

Iran to Start Purchasing Sukhoi Superjet-100 Planes ‘Very Soon’
The deal between Iran and Airbus was signed in January in the course of the President Rouhani’s visit to France. Iran purchased 118 airliners including 45 narrow-bodied A320 aircraft, 45 A330 jets, 16 A350 and 12 A380 planes.

Iran has intensified its cooperation with the international community since it reached an agreement with leading world powers, according to which Iran pledged to guarantee the peaceful nature of its nuclear activities in exchange for the sanctions against it being lifted.

In mid-January, the European Union and, in part, the United States, removed the economic sanctions imposed on Iran after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) verified Tehran’s compliance with the nuclear agreement.
