PARIS (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Abdeslam was handed over to French authorities and was tried.
"Salah Abdeslam was charged with murder and links to a terrorist organization," Berton told reporters.
Abdeslam is also reportedly accused of attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of weapons and explosives.
According to local media, the extremist will now be put in solitary confinement. His next trial is expected to take place on May 20.
Abdeslam, along with four other individuals, was arrested on March 18 during a special anti-terrorist police operation in the Molenbeek district of Brussels.
The series of terrorist attacks carried out across Paris on November 13 claimed 130 lives and injured over 350 people. Abdeslam is believed to have provided logistical support to the suicide bombers and shooters.
