MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Activities of international terror groups have reached unprecedented levels and are aimed against the human civilization, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Wednesday.
"The issue of international terrorism has been rightfully put in the limelight, because the activities of terrorists, which have reached an unprecedented scale, are directed against the human civilization, they challenge the world order based on the international law," Lavrov said at the opening of the fifth Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS).
He added that the struggle against terrorism requires a significant amount of time and resources.
Earlier in the day, the two-day MCIS started in Moscow. The agenda of the MCIS includes struggle with global terrorism, as well as security challenges in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Central Asia.
