This project is going to be financed by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The cost is expected to be around $20 million over a five-year period.

The project is expected to kick off in 2017 and will be reportedly based in Ulsan. The Ulsan Metropolitan City is the South Korean industrial capital, according to online publication 3ders.

It was just a fishing port a few decades ago, but since the 1960’s the city pushed for industrial development and has now become the hub of heavy industries.

It is home to a huge harbor complex and a wide number of heavy industries, including oil refinement and automobile production. The headquarters of Hyundai is located in Ulsan, as is their automobile assembly plant – the largest in the world.

Now the city’s vast harbor will also become the base for one of the most ambitious and largest 3D printing projects ever.
