Sarkozy is the leader of the Republicans, a center-right political party in France. The party was formed last year by renaming the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) party, founded in 2002 by former French President Jacques Chirac.
Carla Bruni’s album was supposed to come out next year, but it would be a vital period for the Republicans, as they’ll be going through the primary round of the election.
“The initial release date was left the same in the United States, but her French fans will have to be patient,” Atlantico reported.
Bruni is currently in Los Angeles working on her new album. According to a French source, Bruni will decide later on an exact date for her album’s release in France, depending on the success of her husband’s party.
Bruni is Sarkozy’s third wife. Prior to the singer, the former French president was married to Marie-Dominique Culioli between 1982 and 1996, and former model Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz from 1996 to 2007.
