HMEYMIM (Sputnik) – Kuralenko said that Al-Nusra Front continues to make provocations to escalate tensions in the northern regions of Latakia and Aleppo.
“There are forces, first and foremost the Nusra Front, which has been recognized by the UN Security Council’s Resolution 2249 as a terrorist organization, and its patrons that are not interested in stabilizing the situation in Syria and are exerting efforts to destroy the process of a peaceful settlement in the country,” Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko told journalists.
Following the announcement, media reports emerged claiming that Aleppo would also be involved in the regime, but were refuted by a different source.
The ceasefire in Syria, worked out by Russia and the United States, took effect on February 27. Terrorist groups are not part of the agreement.
