WARSAW (Sputnik) – Members of the Night Wolves motorcycle club were planning to commemorate the victory in World War II by performing a motocross from Moscow to Berlin. Poland refused to grant entry permits to the bikers. On April 29, Polish Ambassador to Russia Katarzyna Pelczynska-Nalecz was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry over the refusal.
The Russian Foreign Ministry deemed Poland’s entry ban to be a cynical and malicious act aimed at aggravating bilateral relations.
“The cause of refusal was the provision of public order,” a statement on the ministry website reads.
In May 2015, members of the Night Wolves club planned to ride through Poland on a journey to Berlin to mark the 70th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, observed in Russia on May 9, but were refused entry by the Polish authorities.
