GENEVA (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said that violence in Syria was returning to the level before the cessation of hostilities was implemented and reports of preparations for a lethal escalation were alarming.
"During a meeting of the task force on monitoring of the Syrian reconciliation which took place yesterday, Russia announced that despite sporadic problems, the regime of cessation of hostilities was working. Lives of thousands of Syrians were saved during ceasefire, resolution of humanitarian issues and promotion of process of political settlement were ensured. Sporadic problems, above all, are tied to provocative actions of Daesh and al-Nusra Front terrorist groups," the source said.
