LONDON (Sputnik) – The inquiry will be led by former head of the Liberty rights group, Shami Chakrabarti, who will talk to members of various groups and report back to Labour with recommendations on the boundaries of acceptable behavior and language, party sources told The Guardian.
"Labour is an anti-racist party to its core and has a long and proud history of standing against racism, including antisemitism. I have campaigned against racism all my life and the Jewish community has been at the heart of the Labour party and progressive politics in Britain for more than 100 years," Corbyn said as quoted by The Guardian on Friday.
Labour will come up with new rules prohibiting various forms of discrimination in the coming weeks and will consider Chakrabarti’s proposals within two months.
Earlier this week, Labour parliament member Naz Shah was suspended over anti-Semitic Facebook posts. Former London mayor Ken Livingstone defended her claiming that Hitler was a supporter of Zionism. He was subsequently suspended from Labour because of the comments.
