A fresh Guinness World Record for the longest hoverboard flight has been set by French jet ski champion Franky Zapata, inventor of the Flyboard Air, according to media reports.
The 37-year-old made the achievement off the coast of the small seaside town of Sausset-les-Pins in southern France late last week, when he rode his Flyboard Air hoverboard a distance of more than 2,252 meters (7,388 feet).
The feat significantly surpasses the previous record of 275.9 meters (about 905 feet), set by Canada's Catalin Alexandru Duru last year.
Earlier, the Zapata Racing company said that the Flyboard Air can use what it described as an "independent propulsion unit" to fly hose-free for up to ten minutes.
