Robinson helicopter allegedly crashed in the Russkaya Bay near the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula, a spokesman for the local department of the Ministry of Emergencies said Tuesday. Three people were supposed to be on board.

VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) — Three people are believed to have been on board the Robinson R44 helicopter, which, according to preliminary data, crashed in the Russkaya Bay near the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula, a spokesman for the local department of the Ministry of Emergencies (EMERCOM) said Tuesday.

"A Robinson helicopter crashed in the Russkaya Bay area…. The bodies of three people have been recovered at the crash site. The search operations in the area continue," he told RIA Novosti.

The spokesman added that an operational group of the Kamchatka Territory's EMERCOM was preparing for the rescue flight to the scene.

The helicopter reportedly did not emit an alarm signal prior to the crash.
