WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is taking an early lead in the primary election in the US state of Indiana over his rivals Senator Ted Cruz and Ohio Governor John Kasich, according to early official results.
With one percent of votes counted on Tuesday evening, Trump led with 61.4 percent compared to only 23.8 percent for Cruz and 11.7 percent for Kasich.
The results came from counties scattered all around Indiana, a large state in the US Midwest, and therefore appeared to be statistically representative of voting patterns.
