Russia should use its influence on Syrian President Bashar Assad to persuade him to uphold Syrian agreement, according to White House spokesperson Josh Earnest.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Russia should use its influence with Syrian President Bashar Assad to persuade him to adhere to the renewed cessation of hostilities once an agreement is reached, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

"We certainly believe there is more that Russia can and should do [to persuade Assad]," Earnest told reporters.
