HOMS (Sputnik) — The silence regime in Syria's Aleppo region will begin Wednesday night and last for 48 hours, the Syrian Army command said in a statement.
"The 48-hour silence regime in Aleppo will enter into force at 00:01 a.m. [21:01 GMT] tomorrow, Thursday," the statement reads.
Earlier in the day, the governments of the United States and Russia have agreed on a deal to extend the cessation of hostilities in Syria to the Aleppo province.
A ceasefire, brokered by Moscow and Washington, has been in place in Syria since late February. Groups designated as terrorist by the UN are not included in the truce.
Despite the deal, violence has been escalating in the country in recent weeks, especially in the northern Aleppo region.
