WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton may be ordered to testify on the nature of her personal email server, Federal District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan said in an order.
"Based on information learned during discovery, the deposition of Mrs. Clinton may be necessary," Sullivan stated on Wednesday.
The US judge issued the order upon a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch.
Clinton has come under intense scrutiny for using a personal server and email account for official purposes during her tenure as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.
The investigation into the matter has found that Clinton shared more than 100 emails about highly classified US government programs and other sensitive information via her unsecured communications contrary to established rules.
