WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The sheriff’s office noted that a Harris County deputy, who sustained an injury to the knee, is being examined in hospital. The office also informed that the situation at the scene is contained and there are no threats to nearby schools and community.
“A preliminary investigation has confirmed that a recently terminated employee arrived on scene and opened fire on multiple employees. One employee is confirmed deceased and two have sustained injuries,” the release said. “The suspect is confirmed deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Harris County Sheriff’s spokesman Ryan Sullivan told Sputnik earlier on Wednesday that at 8:43 a.m. local time police responded to a report of shots fired at Knights Transportation at the 2400 block of Franz road in Harris County.
“Our high-risk operation unit, aerial support unit and mobile command unit have all been sent to the scene,” Sullivan noted.
