WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – The night before, Trump crushed his only credible Republican rival, US Senator Ted Cruz, prompting Cruz to end his candidacy.
"The new CNN/ORC Poll, completed ahead of Trump's victory last night, found Clinton leads 54 percent to 41 percent, a 13-point edge over the New York businessman," a press release describing the poll said.
Both candidates enter the final leg of the presidential race with historically high levels of distrust among likely US voters, analysts say.
Some 49 percent view Clinton unfavorably, while Trump garners an even higher level of distrust, 54 percent, the poll explained.
