On Thursday, Israeli forces discovered a secret cross-border tunnel in Gaza leading to Israel. According to the military, over the last three days Hamas has attacked Israeli forces at least 12 times. Israeli forces have in turn responded with tank fire and carried out four airstrikes.
Israel imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip in 2007, after Hamas won control of the exclave following a decisive victory over the Fatah party in the Palestinian legislative election the year before.
