MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia has test fired a Kalibr cruise missile in the Barents Sea from one of its diesel-electric powered submarines, the Stary Oskol, the head of the Defense Ministry's Northern Fleet press service said Friday.
“Today, the diesel-electric powered submarine, the Stary Oskol, currently undergoing trials in the Northern Fleet, successfully launched a Kalibr cruise missile at a coastal target. The launch was activated from a submerged position from one of the Navy’s test ranges in the Barents Sea. The coastal target located at the Chizha range was destroyed with a direct hit,” Vadim Serga said.
