MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Eastern Military District's (EMD) anti-terrorist units deployed in Buryatia have carried out practice drills to repel a simulated terrorist attack involving hostage situations, the head of the EMD's press service said Friday.
"The service personnel received an alert of an attack against the military unit, and, directed by unit commanders, they carried out practical exercises involving repelling illegal armed groups' attacks with the threat of terrorist attacks being carried out by them on the military unit's territory, including hostage taking," Alexander Gordeev told reporters.
A total of seven anti-terrorist units, comprising 200 personnel and 30 pieces of military equipment, were engaged in the drill, he added, noting that each unit practiced two enemy attack repelling techniques.
