CAIRO (Sputnik) — The Egyptian Security Forces are combing the area of the Greater Cairo's city of Helwan, looking for gunmen who killed eight police officers, the country's Interior Ministry said Sunday.
Earlier in the day, four unidentified men ambushed and opened fire at a microbus carrying local plainclothed policemen from automatic firearm south of Cairo, killing a first lieutenant and seven police officers, the ministry’s spokesperson said in a statement.

According to investigators, over 100 bullet casings have been found at the site of the attack. Each victim got more than ten gunshot wounds. The gunmen were firing point-blank, pathologists said.
Security measures has been stepped up in the area of attack.
