MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Italian special police arrested a Slovenian suspected of ties to an international terrorist group, Italy's Interior Minister Angelino Alfano said Sunday.
"Another operation against the threat of international terrorism has been brought to a successful conclusion by the Carabinieri of the [Special Operations Group] who in collaboration with the Slovenian police arrested a 26-year-old Slovenian citizen suspected to be a ‘foreign fighter,’" Alfano said as quoted by La Repubblica newspaper.
The detainee is also suspected of radicalizing and recruiting "aspiring jihadists."
Last week, Alfano announced that six people were arrested in northern Italy who planned to carry out terrorist attacks in the country.
