CHISINAU (Sputnik) – Moldova's opposition Socialist Party condemns presence of US military equipment and troops in Chisinau, a day before the Victory Day celebrations, the party’s leader Igor Dodon said Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, a military exhibition that includes equipment from the United States opened on the central square of the Moldovan capital opposite the government building. US soldiers, involved in military exercises in Moldova, alongside local troops, are participating in a commemorative event to honor the victims of World War II.
The Socialists Party activists plan to hold a demonstration against the presence of US military equipment in Chisinau, Dodon told RIA Novosti.
Around 165 Moldovan Ground Forces soldiers and 198 US troops, alongside 58 pieces of US hardware and 40 Moldovan sapper equipment and support vehicles, are taking part in the Dragon Pioneer 2016 drills that kicked off in the republic on May 2.
