MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the blast ripped through a checkpoint in Chechnya’s capital city Grozny at around 6:15 a.m. local time (03:15 GMT). According to the Russian Interior Ministry, six police officers were injured in the explosion.
"The investigating bodies of Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Chechen Republic have opened the case for an attempt on the lives of law enforcement officers and illegal trafficking in firearms," the statement reads.
It was added in the statement that the attack was conducted by two unidentified individuals.
According to the statement, the investigation is in progress.
