HMEYMIM (Syria) (Sputnik) — The Victory Day parade marking the 71st anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II has started at Russia's Hmeymim airbase in Syria, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Monday.
The Russian flag and the Victory Banner have been brought to the airfield at the base.
Russian and Syrian troops are expected to march along the airfield. They will be followed by military equipment.
Several planes and helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces will also participate in the Victory Day parade.
The Victory Day parade is taking place on May 9 across Russia and the former Soviet republics.
