MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Poland’s internal security agency illegally watched dozens of journalists and activists under the previous administration, a cabinet minister in charge of the national security said Wednesday.
"Special services spied on 52 journalists. They tapped phone calls, collected their addresses and data on families," Kaminski told Sejm, the lower house of the Polish legislature.
Kaminski, who led Poland’s Central Anti-Corruption Bureau until 2009, also claimed that ABW took photos of journalists and the people they communicated with, as well as kept tabs on members of the anti-corruption agency and their contacts.

Last October, the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) defeated Civic Platform in a parliamentary election and returned to power after losing majority in 2007. In March, new Polish President Andrzej Duda pardoned Kaminski after he was himself found guilty of abusing power while at the helm of the anti-corruption bureau.
