MOGILEV (Belarus), (Sputnik) – To date, Belarus has received Russian gas from Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, a subsidiary of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, at $142 per 1,000 cubic meters. In early April, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said that the Russian gas price for Belarus should be $80 per 1,000 cubic meters.
"We believe that what should operate is an equally profitable market price, which, based on an intergovernmental agreement formula and according to our calculations, stands at $73 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas," Potupchik told reporters.
Early in May, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus filed a lawsuit with the International Arbitration Court at the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) with arrears claims toward the country’s gas providers.
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Thursday that Minsk owes Gazprom $125 million for January-April deliveries, which Potupchik declined to recognize.
