President Dilma Rousseff's impeachment materialized as the epitome of Brazilian push-and-pull play.

This performance began on December 3, 2015 Rousseff's political rivals pushed the impeachment initiative through the lower house of the Brazilian congress. On May 12, 2016 Brazilian parliament voted to start impeachment proceedings against Dilma Rousseff.

However, it seems that the president doesn't want to be pulled out of politics so fast. She dismissed the government.

"I never received bribes, I have not engaged in money laundering. There are no grounds for impeachment," Rousseff said in a televised statement.

"I wish to clarify this again after the Senate's decision and point to the risks of fraudulent impeachment, which is a coup," she added.
