French Gov't Survives No-Confidence Motion by Parliament's Decision
Lawmakers from the lower house of the French parliament on Thursday rejected a proposal of the right-wing opposition to issue a no-confidence vote against the government of Manuel Valls, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.
PARIS (Sputnik) — The no-confidence motion was supported by 246 votes instead of the 288 required to issue a no-confidence vote against the government.
The procedure was initiated by the Republicans led by Nicolas Sarkozy and the Union of Democrats and Independents headed by Jean-Christophe Lagarde amid labor market reforms.
